Pet Passport UK from Local Vets
Are you looking for pet passports in the UK? At Local Vets, we offer information and advice on the documentation and health requirements to take your vet with you abroad. Whether you have a pet dog, cat, ferret or an assistance dog, you will require a pet passport when travelling from the UK to Europe, Northern Ireland and the rest of the world.
You may be aware of this already, however, the rules for travelling with animals to EU countries changed in January 2021. Local Vets are officially registered and can not only provide pet passports and health certification but also the required vaccinations, medicine, and advice for travelling abroad with your pet or assistance animal.
Pet Passport UK Requirements
When taking your assistance dog, pet dog, cat or ferret abroad, your pet(s) will need the following prior to travelling:
- an animal health certificate or a valid pet passport (check that your pet’s passport is accepted in the country you are travelling to)
- a microchip
- a current rabies vaccination
- tapeworm treatment for dogs if you’re travelling directly to Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Norway or Malta
If you already have a pet passport, you should check if it’s accepted before you travel and find out if you need any other supporting documents.
